I've also made a new random account just a few hours ago hoping to use that when it asks for an Apple ID but it just tells me that 'this item is temporarily unavailable' but it's installing when I use my original ID, I've tried changing the date through the terminal, hoping maybe that was causing this problem. I'm worried It'll ask for my ID every time they have to update or install anything new on this mac. The problem is that it's asking for an Apple ID at the installation window and I don't want to use my Apple ID because I'm worried it'll cause a problem for the new user in the future. Then I clicked on Reinstall OS X, it takes me to the window telling me to install OS X El Capitan. I went to the Utilities using (command+R) and erased all my data from Macintosh using Disk Utility. I'm giving away my Macbook Pro late 2009 to someone else and I wanted to install it over completely new. Trying to reinstall OS X El Capitan on Macbook Pro late 2009. IF, they are not willing to do that, AM I SCREWED? So, at present I am hoping that the seller who sold me the Mac is kind enough for me to pop round (socially distancing in COVID times) and enter their old user name and password JUST to reload El Capitan. Mrs tried her user name and password as she did a windows office 2008 update, as well as having done previous updates on her 'own' account as the old post said, Apple needed other users with update history. Did a search and found an old post on communities here that I need the original owners ID and user password. When it came to installing OS X on the Mac HDD, my user ID and password entry result in 'Ths item is temporarily unavailable. Went to do a system restore and did that. Mrs who is a Apple Mac 2018 user tried in vain to load updates for Windows 2008.Īnyway, today I decided to sell this Mac on and put it on Ebay. This item is temporarily unavailable - OS X Network Install So, a couple of weeks back I bought an Apple Mac 2009, bought Microsoft office 2008 for Apple Mac 2009 and found that the Max said there is no software to be found on the disc. PLEASE help/offer me (us) another alternative to getting the Apple OS up & running with internet/quick fix option. THIS fix is urgent since I'm dealing with major repairs needed on much newer iMac and MacBook Air. My family started converting to Apple products around 2010 spending thousands and thousands of dollars, with growing problems (for another post). I have a ticket number, and even the high level support tech told me he expects this is a problem on Apple's end! While he is now sending me a disc (FYI to other's which this problem) to manually try it, it will also take several days to arrive. Neither work! SO, what is the FIX when it is NOT a used computer, and I have/using the original Apple ID? Shouldn't there be a website link to download from? Tech support who can remotely access it and override this? I've called in twice. I have tried both several times, over 2 days! I've seen others comment on "buying it used" or "got from family" and the instructions were to use orginal Apple ID, which I've continued trying primarily, intermittently going back to the most recent one used. I have 2 apple IDs, the one I originally used when I bought it (now for kid's devices), and my personal one that was ALSO used on this MacBook for OS updates. Unfortunately I did the 'main' drive, including the Macintosh HD, this worked, was then verified and 'repaired.' I realize this ruined my chance to reinstall Seirra (most recent OS I'd installed), BUT, it also will not allow me to install the oringial OS X Mountain Lion! I am the first and ONLY owner. I am working to reset my 2010 MacBook Pro to Factory Settings.
